100 years of beauty in 1 minute
This series is pretty cool. I would love it if they did one for men. My favorites are:

It's a shame they only show the face. Understandable for the speed-up makeover parts, but I wanna see what the fashion looked like.

I love these to death. I especially love that they're going International. Seeing similar trends pop up in the same time period, but with local culture twists, just warms my giant anthropology-cross-costume-loving heart.

Me too! Maybe it will come eventually? Clothes would be a much more expensive production, though

Same same! I would love to see India, Jordan, Brazil, Nigeria, and Ethiopia. Do you think they take requests?

I'd only seen the GIF posts on Tumblr, but yeah, these are really awesome. I too would love to see full ensembles rather than just the face.

I don't know why, but the fashion of the 20s and the 30s fascinates me.

I've got my fingers crossed for a "100 Years of Fashion" video for various countries.
This one is fun, combining fashion and dance in London specifically over the last century:

With respect to episode 7, it's interesting how those transformations didn't take skin tone into account...

I know. They base the poses on famous media but I bet if you went to the source material the original models would have been a lot whiter. The same is true for Mexico
They aldo missed regional/religious variation. India is so big that it would have been hard to do, but something more like the N Korea and S Korea one using Tamil and Hindi media or Muslim, Hindu and Sikh styles.

Oh, I love the Pussy Riot reference.
And '80s hair is so bad everywhere in the world! What were we thinking?

Aquanet it is the only explanation that makes sense. I think my favorite looks are 1910-1930

I like 1910 for Russia. Most of the time I tend to like 20s-40s best, and sometimes 90s-2000s.

It just feels so sad to see how the ideals gravitate more and more toward 'sameness'. But that's western beauty culture for you. However for designing characters, that series is a goldmine. Hairstyles in particular.

Re: 100 years of beauty in 1 minute
Did anyone else think the Italy 1940 one looked really modern? If I'd had to guess, I would have pegged it as 90s at the earliest. I liked 1910-1930 best, as is often the case.

I was surprised by how different the 1940s looked than I was expecting, but that's the War and Mussolini, I guess.

Fascist Italy was surprisingly avant-garde when it came to architecture (Terragni!), design (Depero!) and fashion (leaving the repulsive uniforms of Fascism aside). Anything else not so much (esp. cinema).

80s hair sucks everywhere except Ethiopia!
The men's one is kind of boring. It's just like back almost the same thing every couple decades.

Yeah, Ethiopia won the 1980s
The "Making of" videos are even better than the videos:
Ethiopia
Brazil
Germany 1910-1940
Germany 1950-2010
All the others have "Making of" videos, but I am too lazy to copy them all
