Forum tech problems
Just to let everyone know, it looks like there was a server migration yesterday, and it seems to have reset some forum data. You may notice posts marked unread from a few days back, a drop in your post count and a drop in reputation. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, it wasn't something I was warned of in advance (and there's not much I could have done about it regardless). I'm afraid using a free site does have its drawbacks.

Bump: have anybody else's "like" buttons completely disappeared?

It looks like the site that hosts the script for the buttons is down temporarily. The Like buttons should reappear when it comes back up.

Found them - it's the plus and minus on the right of every post.Enail wrote:It looks like the site that hosts the script for the buttons is down temporarily. The Like buttons should reappear when it comes back up.

Is the host for the Like buttons down again, or is the + and - the new normal? Not liking it because clicking that takes you away from the page you're on.

Re: Forum tech problems
It looks like it's down and will come back again, but they expect it to be unreliable in the future. I can change it to not rely on an externally hosted script, but there's a fair chance I'll mess something up, so I'd prefer to do it at a low-traffic time. I'll try and find a good time and do it soon!

Re: Forum tech problems
Alright, I've got a new one in place, so hopefully that will take care of that. If the thumbs-up picture's too small, let me know and I'll swap it out for a Like button or something.

I saw it and used it. Yay! When I first saw it, it was up by the Multi-Quote button, so I take it you've been tinkering over the past hour.
Thanks for getting it fixed!

Yeah, I figured it makes more sense at the bottom than the top, because some posts are long and no one likes to scroll! Thanks for your patience, all!

Re: Forum tech problems
Not sure if this is happening for anyone else, but the main forum page is not in synch with the forums when you go into them regarding what's the most recent post/thread. I'm seeing kath's post in the Canada? thread as the most recent post in the Off-Topic forum from the main page. And a couple other forums are doing similar things.

Yeah, you're not alone.
I got a maintenance page when I tried logging in on my PC, currently im on mobile but this is very strange. Any mods or admins know wtf is going on?
EDIT: Now it's back to normal.

Re: Forum tech problems
Is anyone having trouble with the forums on mobile devices? When I try to read the forum on my phone, frequently, the ad for the page auto redirects me to the ad's website, as if I clicked the ad even though I didn't. This started this past week.
That's not happening to me on my computer, but I have ad block there, so that might be the difference.

Re: Forum tech problems
This sounds like an earlier problem some people were having, which unfortunately seems to be a recurring issue with the forum provider. If you can give me the URL of the site it's redirecting to, I can try and push them to look into it. Other than that, apparently adblock does help, so that's one option.

Re: Forum tech problems
Well, it's a couple different ones. Right now, it's Gett (GetTaxi - NYC) where it actually opened up my App Store app and took me straight to their app to download.
I'll let you know of others that pop up.
And sadly, I have an olllllld version of iOS that doesn't have adblock.

Re: Forum tech problems
Can you actually copy the URL for me? That seems to be what they call for before they're willing to look into it. Thanks!
